Cat Trees
Filed Under DIY (Do It Yourself), Cats
Today was moving day to a new apartment, and the Super Unit Tubes came in pretty handy. The 10in tubes fit inside the 12in tubes. Then I stuffed blankets, pillows, and cat toys inside that, and tied the endcap closed. Amazing, it's so easy to carry!

I had assumed that transporting this cat furniture would be easier, if everything could be contained in one simple unit. But, I didn't know for sure. It worked better than I imagined it would! Honestly, I was so impressed and excited, I blathered on about it for a few minutes with my neighbor. He probably thinks I'm out of my mind, because he doesn't have a cat, or understands how difficult it is to move regular cat furniture. It's a good thing he didn't see me staring at my handiwork for another 10 minutes.

It hadn't occured to me to use sqaure pillows inside the Super Units. Round pillows work best when the doorway is concave (or bowl shaped) but the square pillows can be stuffed down to fill in a convex shape. That was an interesting discovery. I thought about selling some pillows to go along with these units, but haven't found any that I like. Besides, I'm sure everyone has something that their cats already lay on. So, it's not really an item I need to include.
Cat Trees
The SuperUnit 5000 tubes are made to order. What I was thinking, was pre-making units in advance. Like, some kind of theme to design the units around. Egyptian, Nautical?… But, that means there is no customization. Cat trees, would be a perfect premade unit to sell. I was thinking a hollowed log theme. Tree, log… makes sense? It will be dark brown and green, and that's the only colors. So, I guess it's not really a "tree", but a fallen log. Something that looks like this:
That's damn cool, right? I'm not making mine out of natual wood though. But I like the large circular shape, surrounding a smaller central one with a spiral staircase. I thought about making "branches", but that probably wouldn't be a good idea for me. The tubes I make are more like logs. It's probably difficult to understand this. Check my site, I'll revisit this topic with pictures later.
